There was always this assumption while I was growing up that I was the nice kid. I mean, its partially right because I was always really scared to ever do the wrong thing. Also, I happen to have a conscious, so I did care about the repercussions of what I did, even if they didn’t effect me.

I remember once though when I was just starting middle school I think, and I figured out how to do text-to-speech on computers. I didn’t particularly care to curse, but the rush from doing something I held as possibly wrong, so profane, it was distracting. What was even more encouraging was that when I shared with my classmates my new found ability, they were just as juvenile in their response with their giggling behind their hands.

I’d brought my laptop to school, and the only program that I could get to do the text-to-speech bit in was this silly Kidz Picz thing. so we gathered near the bench between the school lockers, as I typed out slowly F-U-C-K into my laptop, then hit the command for speech and started to laugh. The principal was roaming the halls it seemed, even though it was after school, heard our giggling, and possible the computer spewing phrases like “you fucking bitch” and the like. I remember everyone scattering when he came, and I just sat there, as if nothing was out of the ordinary. He asked me what I was doing, and I simply said I was testing out this text-to-speech thing. After showing him some test stuff, he asked what precisely I was doing earlier, and I showed him the computer’s potty mouth.

The reason that I bring this up is because he said the following that bothered me. he said, “I wouldn’t expect this from you Hussien, you’re a nice boy.” I responded in a way I never had before and simply said yeah, I guess most people don’t expect that from me, as if to be spiteful instead of apologetic for my actions.

I do somethings sometimes that aren’t what people expect of me. This isn’t high expectations bull crap about how I’m not expected to mess up or w/e. I mean to say that it bothers me when people think they have me figured out. Like I’m some predictable character, cast into a book, and a fluke like this could be established as some sort of poor character writing for the sake of plot development. But people are complex, and weird, and really spontaneity has to occur without always being able to find some sort of root, some sign that this could happen before. We can’t always look for foreshadowing in daily life to predict others. rationality exists in some form or another, sure, but we’re not consistent. I’m not consistent.

My internet is fast. Its like ridiculous at 75 MB down. But for some reason, my youtube videos that I watch don’t play seamlessly. I know this might be me whining, but I honestly don’t understand why I have this issue. When it starts to buffer, the grey bar just shoots up, then stops. then if I get to the end of the buffered part, it won’t start buffering again, I have to playback a little and the buffering process continues from where it ended.

This isn’t a speed issue YouTube, there is something weird in how the player works, because every other video player (Hulu, Dailymotion, Netflix, even the crappy Tumblr one) doesn’t have this problem.

For a service whose aims are to replace TV eventually, I hope you actually take notice of this problem, instead of brush it off and tell me go to a lower video setting. I’m watching 360p jerks.

why celsius/centigrade is better than fahrenehenheit

all water above 100 is steam. easy and logical

if it’s 1 degree outside one day and 10 degrees the next you can literally say it’s 10x warmer and you aren’t even exaggerating

couple of things, wtf does it mean that the difference between 1 degree celsius and 10 degrees means that its 10X hotter literally? like I don’t see how that is any different than fahrenheit. I mean 0 Celsius is still arbitrary, if you were talking about Kelvin though, then you can use that statement (says the guy who sucks at science things)

But yeah, Fahrenheit is still ridiculous, and going back and forth between the metric and the english systems of measurement make me terribly annoyed. I mean when someone says its 20 degrees outside while I’m in Egypt, my mind just can’t understand what that feels like. I just sit there dumbfounded trying to subtract and multiply with fractions. Its not fun. So I’m forever doomed to be used to the stupid system. At some point I hope that’ll change, but I don’t know when.
